Web Hosting 911 is a site I’ve not come across before which offers customer reviews of various hosting providers. It’s a great idea, after all, we always want to know what other people think of hosting providers that we are interested in.
At the moment there aren’t a lot of reviews on there, but they are running a monthly randomly drawn competition to encourage people to list their reviews of their hosting providers. This month a Nintendo Wii is up for grabs in first place with $100 and $50 Amazon vouchers for second and third places!
I went through and submitted a review of one of my hosting providers. The process was quite quick and simple, however, it is a pity that you are forced to create an account to post a review – and your full name is displayed. I guess this offers some extra legitimacy to the reviews, but I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere that this would be the case, which I find quite rude really since your first and last names are required when you register an account. I think a separate username needs to be specified so that users can maintain some level of anonymity.
I’m also supposed to mention that this is a paid post – but it was cool to have a look at this site, hopefully it takes off as it can be quite a pain sometimes to find a decent set of reviews of hosting providers.
