Happy New Year Everyone
January 1, 2009Matt No Comments »Happy new year to everyone out there! Best wishes to you all and a prosperous 2009 for everyone!
What have you been up to over the Christmas and New Years break? Did you go on holidays? Stay home? Work? Do something you’ve never done before? Let me know in the comments!
I came down to Wagga Wagga on the 23rd of December for a holiday and to visit the family at their new place. I’ve been down briefly a couple of times before, prior to their moving from Lismore to Wagga, so this is the first time I’ve been there though when there has actually been furniture in the house and everyone has been there.
I flew down with QANTAS (Brisbane to Canberra) which is the first time I’ve flown with them, and when the price is the same as Virgin Blue, why not! I have to say though, that despite the bad press they have been enduring of late, the service was great! Of the major airlines that do domestic flights in Australia, the only airline I’ve found to have better service than QANTAS is Rex! I was a little bit worried that it might be delayed significantly as many QANTAS flights seem to be lately, but it was only about a 5-10 minute delay which was great, far better than the delays I’ve had with Virgin Blue and Jetstar!
Went off on a bit of a tangent there, anyway, I had Christmas in Wagga with my family and Nan and Pop and was there until the 29th. Then we all headed over to Batemans Bay to visit my Nan and Pop for a bit longer (since thats where they live) and to see my uncle and cousins who also live at the bay.
At the moment, I’m still in Batemans Bay, enjoying the beautiful countryside down here and playing various card games on a regular basis! My Nan and Pop know of – or possibly make up – so many different card games. Using a regular deck of cards, over the past few days we have played the following card games:
- Old Joe
- Kings
- Hand and Foot
- Bush Rummy
- Others maybe?
I’ve got copies of the rules for some of them and can remember the others (and make up what I don’t remember), so if you are interested in any of them, let me know! We might play a few more different ones yet, who knows.
We’ll be heading back to Wagga Wagga tomorrow morning after catching up with some more relations here in Batemans Bay, and then I’m back into work!
I’ll be in Wagga from then until the 29th of January when I’m heading back up to Brisbane. So it’s a nice long working holiday.
I’ve been pretty quiet on here the past few months unfortunately as I have been pretty busy, though if you follow me on Twitter, I am relatively alive. Hopefully you’ll be seeing a few more blog posts from me soon, along with a heap of photos on Flickr from my holiday thus far. I’ve got a number of things in the works, both for on here, on my computational arts blog and on the TerraMedia blog as well, so you should start to see them all fairly soon.
Thats it from me for now though, have a fun and safe holiday everyone, and enjoy 2009!
