Kew Hair Design - Very Impressed

I’ve been to a number of different hairdressers over the past 5 years or so, just prior to and since moving to Brisbane, and there has not been one that has really stood out to me as an outstanding hairdresser.

I only get my hair cut every 4 to 6 months or so, though occasionally it ends up being closer to a year, so I have pretty much just ended up dropping into Just Cuts from time to time, whenever I have time, since they are one of the cheaper hairdressers to start with, and then I get a student discount on top of that, so it ends up being only around $21 or so for a hair cut for me.

I had to go down to Browns Plains yesterday though, and I figured, since I’m going down there anyway, and I do really need a hair cut, why not look up what hairdressers are near where I’m going? Then I remembered, I was at the Bartercard Brisbane South trade office a week or so ago and had picked up a few brochures of places trading in the Brisbane South area and one of them was a hairdresser, Kew Hair Design. So I dug out the brochure, and low and behold, they are in Browns Plains! Rang up, yep they could fit me in, just in time to do my hair while I was there.

Perfect, I get my hair cut, and I can pay for it on Bartercard! I’ve been avoiding most hairdressers on Barter as they cost an arm, a leg, and a first born (and I don’t even have a first born!), whether you pay Barter or cash. The Kew Hair Design brochure though said mens cuts from $22! So, awesome, not much more than what I pay at Just Cuts!

So off I went yesterday afternoon to Browns Plains, and got my hair cut.

The first thing that surprised me was that the young lady (probably actually my age, not sure, but I’m still young right?) who was to do my hair was waiting for me and guessed it was me as soon as I walked in and greeted me, offered me a tea, coffee, juice or water to drink while I had my hair done.

So, to recap so far, served straight away (granted I was about 5 minutes late, but still), Amy (I think) who did my hair, was extremely friendly and offered me something to drink! No hairdresser has ever offered me a drink except the one time I had my hair dyed!

Got my hair done, she did an excellent job! Best hair cut since I got my hair cut at Pop Hair in Lismore many years ago! Everyone has been commenting on it today.

Anyway, the next thing that really stood out to me is that after she cut my hair, you know how they usually brush your neck with that soft bristled brush thing? Well, she did that, and then also got this slightly damp, warm towel and used it to wipe the cut hair off the back and sides of my neck, as well as my face and behind my ears! How awesome! I think that’s the first time I’ve had my hair cut where I haven’t been brushing hair out from behind my ears and off the back of my neck for hours afterwards.

All in all, it ended up costing $27 as my hair was a bit on the long and shaggy side, but for only a few dollars more than Just Cuts, this was just the best cut and by far the best service I’ve ever had! I will definitely be going back, Bartercard or no Bartercard!
